Early morning inferno guts TBL's storage area for empties

On the 29th July 2009 at around 1 am a fire was detected in the Empties Storage Yard by G4S Security personnel on duty.
They attempted to extinguish the fire which was burning on top of a pile of empty beer plastic crates. When it became apparent that they would not be able to successfully extinguish the rapidly spreading fire, they immediately called in the Dar es Salaam City Fire Services, Ultimate Security Fire Services, Knight Support and Tanzania Ports Authority Fire Tender, as well as TANESCO to switch off the power network in the area.
With lots of courage from the fire service departments and many TBL employees, the fire was contained at around 3 am to the extensive destruction of the crates and bottles and some damaged to the new Line Five equipment currently being installed. It is with luck that no serious injury to both the fire tenders and TBL employees was recorded.
The cause of this damaging fire is still unknown, and at current TBL Management is establishing the extent of damage to property and stock, and as soon as clearing of the site is completed production of beer products will be brought back to normal TBL would like to assure all of its customers that it has sufficient stocks of finished products at hand, deliveries and orders will continue to be honoured as normal.
On behalf of TBL Board and Management, we would like to thank all individuals who have gone beyond the call of duty in helping us save what could have turned out to be a much bigger disaster, in particular Dar es Salaam City Fire Services, Ultimate Security Fire Services, Knight Support, Tanzania Ports Authority, TANESCO, Police Force, G4S Security Services, our Mchikichini neighbours and the Press and not to forget all best wishers who sent us messages of encouragement and sympathy.
We shall continue to give you an update of developments as more findings unfold.R.M. GoetzscheManaging Director;Tanzania Breweries Ltd.Operations Director, SABMiller East AfricaFor further Information:Corporate Affairs & Communications Office,+255767266049,
