The Facility was dedicated to the World Health Organization by the CEO of GlaxoSmithKline Andrew Witty, during a ceremony that was witnessed by representative of WHO (Coordinator of the Neglected Tropical Disease Program) Dr Dirk Engels and the President of the Global Alliance Dr Mwele Malecela of Tanzania in Nashik, India this weekend.
The colorful ceremony was also attended by the GSK Manager for India and Vice President of Global Manufacturing.
The facility is expected to produce 300 million tablets of Albendazole a year for use by the Global Program to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis which is currently in its 10th year. The ceremony began by ceremonial candle lighting followed by speeches and unvieling of the plaque
